Zelma Hutchinson Mansfield Centre Manager

Hello, I’m Zelma. I joined the charity in April 2018 as the first full-time Centre Manager at Reach Mansfield.

Most of my career to date has been in nursing. I began as a general nurse before training as a mental health nurse. I have also worked extensively in care support and in the voluntary sector. So coming to Reach Mansfield seemed a natural and exciting progression for me, especially as I am Mansfield born and bred. The role offers a unique opportunity to make a difference to people’s lives and to my own community.

My aspirations for Reach Mansfield are for us to carry on growing bigger and better! I want us to reach more people and make sure we are catering for diverse needs. To achieve this, we have begun to develop new community connections and are working on raising our profile in the town and across Nottinghamshire.

Friends and family are really important to me and, however busy I am, I try to make time to see people. I keep fit with Zumba classes, and walking the dog. Getting some fresh air gives me a chance to clear my thoughts and re-connect with the world.

Please do get in touch if you would like to find out more about Reach Mansfield.

Reach Mansfield offers clients a variety of fun, challenging and stimulating activities that build confidence and encourage a healthier lifestyle.

Based at the St. John’s Centre, our five day service offers an exciting learning programme.  Current weekly sessions include cookery, computing, dance and art.

Following our successful Reach Fitness programme, we continue to promote fitness and healthier choices through weekly activities and sessions.  Our Fitness Projects include Active Me -which is part of a big community sports project funded by Sport England and run by Mansfield District Leisure Trust.  We have also recently completed a diabetes prevention and information project thanks to a small grant from the local CCG.

Activity timetable

Reach Mansfield sessions run from Monday to Friday.

Sessional rates vary. Adults with learning disabilities may be eligible to receive personal budgets from Nottinghamshire County Council to pay for sessions. From time to time we can offer places on funded projects at lower sessional rates.
